All you need to know about Bologna

Bologna is the largest city in Italy’s Emilia Romagna region. It has a population of 366,133 and remains an important urban hub. It’s also a major financial, industrial, agriculture and transport centre, made up of food companies, electronic business and round-the-clock trade fairs.

It’s home to beautiful churches and porticoes like the Basilica di San Petronio and the Basilica di San Stefano. Its many porticoes – Portico di San Luca being the longest- run on for 25 miles, are vast in height, and provide a cosy shelter on hot or rainy days.

Bologna’s main airport, Guglielmo Marconi, is one of Italy’s busiest, and is served by most well-known airlines. Another popular commuting hub is Bologna Centrale railway station, which operates a regular service to places like Venice, Naples and Rome.

The city offers a number of museums of galleries like the Palazzo Comunale and Pinacoteca. Immerse yourself in all things Bologna by doing a food tour of the local cheese factory, or enjoy the city on foot with a visit to hotspots like the Archiginnasio of Bologna.
