All you need to know about Middlesbrough

Situated in North Yorkshire, in the northeast of England, Middlesbrough is a town on the River Tees. The town is important in terms of shipping as Teesport is 5km away and one of the most used ports in England. Much of Middlesbrough’s economy comes from the port and a great deal of cargo is chemical industry-related as there is a high concentration of chemical organisations in the area.

Middlesbrough features galleries as well as the landmark Tees Transporter Bridge - the largest working transporter bridge in existence and a symbol of Middlesbrough industry. The town centre contains as many as four shopping centres all within minutes’ walk from one another. The larger city, Newcastle, is under an hour drive north from Middlesbrough and features an array of entertainment venues and shopping options.

Middlesbrough train station provides services to NewcastleManchester and Leeds. There are two accessible airports near to Middlesbrough – Durham Tees Valley Airport and Newcastle airport (providing flights to North America and most of Europe).
