All you need to know about Malaysia

Malaysia's national flag, and Kuala Lumpur
Country Facts - Malaysia

Malaysia is located in Asia and is separated, by the South China Sea, into two regions; Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia. It is also one of the seventeen megadiverse countries, meaning it is home to the majority of Earth's species. Malaysia is also known for being particularly multicultural and multi-ethnic.

Being an independent country, Malaysia has one of the best economic records in Asia. With a newly industrialised market economy, its GDP was estimated at around $525 billion in 2013. The country has a middle-income and relies heavily on international trade with exports including; semiconductor devices, electrical goods, solar panels and information and communication technology. In previous years Malaysia has been the largest producer of tin, rubber and palm oil helping the country rank as the third-largest economy in Southeast Asia. It is also home to the world’s largest Islamic banking and finance centre.

Recently, the government has been investing in tourism and in 2013 the country saw 25 million tourists, making it the 10th most popular tourist destination in the same year. With Malaysia being biodiverse there are many locations such as tropical islands, national parks and nature reserves that are popular with visitors from around the world.

There are many serviced apartments throughout Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital, and with an extensive road network, it makes it the ideal place to stay should you be travelling for business within the country. Serviced apartments offer corporate travellers a fully equipped, spacious and comfortable alternative to a hotel.
