About Warrington

Warrington is a large town and borough in Cheshire, north west England. 16 miles east of Liverpool and 19 miles west of Manchester, the town stands on the banks of the River Mersey.

Warrington grew extensively during the Industrial Revolution, particularly after the River Mersey was made navigable in the 18th century. The town became a centre for steel, textiles, brewing, tanning and chemical industries.

Warrington’s Bank Quay railway station is on the West Coast line from Scotland to London, providing connections to London in less than two hours and Scotland in just over two hours.  Warrington’s second train station, Warrington Central, operates regular trains to Liverpool and Manchester, both of which are also 20 minutes away by car.
