About Little Venice
Little Venice is an absolute treasure near the centre of London, situated northwest of Paddington station. Its name arises from the canal junction at its centre, formed by the western end of the Regent's Canal and the Paddington arm of the Grand Union Canal. Its exact borders are largely a matter of opinion, but broadly speaking streets built in white stucco close to the canal qualify as being in Little Venice as opposed to Maida Vale.
The area is one of London's prime residential areas, and it is also known for its shops and restaurants, as well as the Puppet Theatre Barge, the Cascade Floating Art Gallery, the Waterside Cafe and the Warwick Castle pub. It is possible to take canal tours from Little Venice eastwards around Regent's Park, past London Zoo and on towards Camden Town.
Yards from the canal to Regents Park and beyond, the waterway leads towards Henley, Birmingham and onwards throughout the English waterway system. With its small pubs, restaurants and taverns, Little Venice is a gateway to England - travelling at four miles per hour is actually more relaxing than travelling down a motorway at 70 miles per hour in a BMW.
Little Venice is well served by public transport. Nearby tube stations include Warwick Avenue and Maida Vale, while Paddington underground and railway station is about a 10 minute walk away. The majority of the serviced apartments Little Venice has to offer are near transport links of some kind.
