Country Facts - Lebanon

Lebanon is located in Western Asia with bordering countries including Syria and Israel. The country is built up of four regions: the coastal plain, the Lebanon mountain range, the Beqaa valley and the Anti-Lebanon Mountains. Lebanon was one of only seven countries in the world to increase its stock market in 2008, despite the global recession.

Lebanon has a laissez-faire economic model in which citizens often use foreign currency and there’s minimal government intervention in foreign trade. Lebanon has the greatest proportion of skilled labour in the Arab States and is a major fruit producer. Oil has been found between Lebanon, Cyprus, Israel and Egypt and inspection is ongoing to determine the exploration of the resources.

Due to the political instability in Syria, travel in Tripoli and the borders near Syria are deemed unsafe and should be avoided. Beirut and many other areas are still safe for travellers. Service-taxis are the most popular form of transport; they’ve a predestined route and are shared with other passengers. Alternatively, buses are recommended for travel from Beirut to other cities in Lebanon. The Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport is located 5.6 miles from the city centre and offers flights to worldwide destinations.

Serviced apartments offer corporate travellers an ideal accommodation option in comparison to an extended hotel stay. A serviced apartment in Lebanon offers more space and flexibility than a hotel room and provide business travellers with a more economical and enjoyable solution. We offer serviced apartments in Beirut on Raouche Boulevard, which is just a 20-minute drive from the airport.
