About Al Ain

Al Ain is the UAE’s largest inland city and the second city of the Abu Dhabi emirate. Lying in the UAE’s half of the Buraimi oasis and overlooked by mountains, the city’s relatively cool climate means that for centuries it has provided visitors with respite from the hot climate elsewhere in the Emirates.

Al Ain is famous for its date-lined oasis, a number of historic forts and lively markets. The city also has several museums, a camel market and a zoo and aquarium.

A suburb of the city, Hili, has a large, landscaped garden which has been the site of a number of archelogical investigations. In the 1960s, archaeologists discovered a tomb dating to the end of the third millennium BC, which is now on display in the garden.
