Mumbai

Mumbai (formerly Bombay in English) is the commercial and entertainment capital of India, housing important financial institutions, such as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), and the corporate headquarters of many Indian companies. Mumbai has expanded quickly because of strong business opportunities, making the city a potpourri of various communities and cultures. The city is home to India's film and television industry, known as Bollywood. Mumbai also accommodates a national park, the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, within its city limits.

The city has a deep natural harbour and through its busy port it has become known as 'The Gateway To India'. Getting around the city is not easy as the roads are generally poor and very congested, but millions of commuters use the many trains around the metro area every day. The Mumbai climate has two main seasons - the humid season (March to October) with temperatures over 30°C, and the dry season. Monsoon rains lash the city between June and September. The dry season, between November and February, is cooler.
