New York City is not the capital of the USA, or even New York State (that is Albany to the north), but as home of the United Nations, the city is perhaps the world's capital, and certainly its largest diplomatic centre. The citywide Subway system is the longest in the world, but with so much to see on Manhattan, make sure you take comforable walking shoes.
