Kingston-upon-Thames is the principle town in the Royal borough of Kingston-upon-Thames, situated on one of the most attractive stretches of the river.

It is a market town with a long history: kings were crowned in Saxon times and it has a long tradition of trade with London thanks to the River Thames.

Kingston-upon-Thames has a number of open spaces, from parks and memorial gardens to recreation grounds. Parks in nearby boroughs such as Richmond and Wimbledon Common are easily accessible from the area. 

Kingston railway station operates services across south London. Several companies offer services up the River Thames and it is possible to hire boats for private functions.
