Peterborough lies 74 miles north of London in Cambridgeshire in the East of England.
This modern city hides a great deal of history. The magnificent Cathedral with its impressive architecture is also the resting place of Katharine of Aragon, first wife of Henry VIII. Flag Fen Bronze-Age archaeological site displays artifacts found on site in its museum, including the oldest wheel in Britain.
The city also offers a great nightlife including theatres, cinemas and the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium. There is a full programme of events, both national and international, a lively arts scene and the UKs biggest undercover beer festival held in August each year.
The main retail centre is the Queensgate shopping centre in the city centre, and a number of streets around it are lined with boutique shops, lively bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.
East coast main line trains provide rapid rail connections to major cities including London (King’s Cross in 50 minutes), Leeds (1 hour 30 minutes), Newcastle (2 hours 15 minutes) and Edinburgh (3 hours 30 minutes).
